Job summary

A-1 Machining Company in New Britain, CT seeks an experienced machinist to run bridgeports, lathes and surface grinders to produce clamps and repair tool holders.

You will read blueprints, follow instructions, perform basic measurements and ensure quality in a fast-paced job-shop environment.

Strong attention to detail, ability to communicate with engineers and team, and 3-5 years of relevant experience are required. High school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a job-shop environment.
• High School Diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• Must be able to read blueprints and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Setup and run Bridgeport operations on aerospace parts.
• Make clamps, repair tool holders.
• Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve issues.
• Maintain clean and orderly equipment and work area; perform basic preventative maintenance.
• Adhere to state and federal law, AS9100 quality program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Setup and run Bridgeport operations on aerospace parts.
• Make clamps, repair tool holders.
• Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve any issues.
• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly. Perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be familiar with bridgeports, lathes and surface grinders.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written) as it relates to the job
• Must be adaptable to a changing work environment
• Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a job-shop environment.
• High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
