Job summary

ESS Companies is seeking a Structure Estimator in Columbia, MO to prepare accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for bridge and related structural projects. You will work with operations, engineering, and project management to evaluate plans, quantities, and production strategies.

The role requires heavy civil/bridge experience, MoDOT knowledge, and proficiency with cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, and foundation systems. Familiarity with major estimating software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Heavy civil or bridge construction experience.
• Knowledge of MoDOT bridge specifications.
• Experience estimating cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, and foundation systems.
• Familiarity with estimating software tools used in structural bidding.

Responsibilities

• Review bridge and structure plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, piling, cofferdams, and related work.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
• Participate and lead bid reviews and estimate presentations.
• Support project handoff meetings after award.
• Support operation team with technical change order pricing.
