Job summary

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking a Structures Estimator in St. Joseph, MO to prepare accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for public and private infrastructure projects.

You will participate in site visits, analyze plans, and develop competitive estimates for heavy civil components. The role requires 3–5 years of estimating experience, proficiency with Excel and Word, and travel about 30%. Familiarity with Bluebeam and HCSS Heavybid is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four-year degree in construction related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of structural estimating or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Proven experience estimating complex bridge and wall projects on large heavy civil projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Bluebeam and HCSS Heavybid is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and travel ~30%.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment with other estimators.
• Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits.
• Analyze project plans and specs to develop accurate estimates for structural components.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for heavy civil elements (concrete, rebar, formwork, etc.).
• Develop cost breakdowns and pricing models using historical data and supplier quotes.
• Support value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Estimate close-out activities.
