Job summary

STV Incorporated is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Austin, TX. The role requires pursuing a civil engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and offers a hybrid work arrangement with at least 3 days in the office per week.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
• Preference for experience in architecture/engineering/construction management industry.
• Familiarity with bridge inspection procedures NBIS.
• Exposure to structural analysis software (SAP2000, MIDAS, CSI Bridge).
• Understanding of load rating calculations for bridges and NDT methods in bridge inspections.
• Experience with drafting/delivering design documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit.
• Knowledge of AASHTO and DOT standards related to bridge design and inspection.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and other structures, applying engineering principles and techniques.
• Support the preparation of design calculations, construction drawings, and technical reports.
• Participate in inspection and rating of existing structures to ensure safety standards compliance.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and present design information, including data organization and interpretation.
• Engage in both office-based tasks and on-site activities to understand structural engineering processes.
• Assist in preparing project documentation, including reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Learn and apply industry standards and best practices in structural design and inspection.
