Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer License or equivalent.
• 10+ years’ experience in structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders.
• Establish and grow market presence in the area through marketing and business development.
• Manage department budget and allocate resources accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to the production of proposals.
• Serve as a technical resource to project managers and staff.
• Staffing planning and hiring for the section.
• Perform performance reviews and develop team.
• Provide leadership and ongoing coaching to team members.

Position Summary Lead and manage a team of structural bridge engineers responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of structural projects. This role provides technical leadership, oversees project execution, and ensures that work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Responsible for staff development, resource planning, and maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. In addition to managing the section’s workload and performance, the position plays a key role in business development, client relationships, and maintaining technical excellence across all structural bridge engineering.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders
• Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development
• Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly
• Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
• Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff
• Establish resources staffing needs for the section
• Interview and hire staff for the section
• Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams
• Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
• Professional Engineer License or equivalent
• 10+ years’ experience in specialized discipline
• Project management and business development experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
• Supervisory experience

Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
