CES Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Painting Inspector to monitor painting and surface prep, verify contractor submittals, and ensure adherence to LIRR and MTA standards.

This role requires substantial fieldwork in Nassau and Suffolk counties with coordination of flag protections and track outages. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in bridge painting/inspection, AMPP or equivalent certifications, OSHA-30, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in Bridge Painting, Construction and Inspection.
  • Valid AMPP CIP/BCI I certifications required and maintained.
  • OSHA-30 training completed within past five years.

Responsibilities

  • Verify surface preparation and painting completion on project sites.
  • Review monthly contractor submittals including payrolls and DBE/MBE/WBE updates.
  • Coordinate with Senior Field Inspectors and MTA/LIRR personnel on payments and progress.
  • Maintain accurate daily inspection records and use PMIS for documentation.
  • Inspect fieldwork safely in active railroad environments and coordinate track outages.
  • Read and interpret contract specs and MPT drawings; ensure compliance with LIRR procedures.

Position Title: Bridge Painting InspectorLocation: Nassau and Suffolk CountiesJob Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $55.00-$65.00Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Weekend and night work may be necessary.Position OverviewThe Inspector is responsible for monitoring and documenting construction activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, approved plans, LIRR procedures, safety and quality requirements, and MTA standards. Duties include verifying surface preparation and painting work, reviewing contractor submittals and payment documentation, coordinating with Senior Field Inspectors and MTA/LIRR personnel, maintaining accurate daily inspection records, utilizing project management systems, and promptly reporting issues requiring attention. The position requires frequent fieldwork in active railroad and construction environments, coordination of flag protection, track outages and foul time, interpretation of construction plans and MPT drawings, and maintaining required MTA Roadway Worker Protection certification.Responsibilities:Verify the completion of surface preparation and painting on the Project site.Verify Contractors monthly submittals including certified payrolls, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Minority Business Enterprise, and Women-Owner Business Enterprise updates, schedules, requisitions for payment, work plans and shop drawings accuracy and completeness.Interface with Senior Field Inspector(s) to review third-party contractor and consultant invoices for payment in accordance with progress of the work.Physically navigate around sites including, but are not limited to, inclined embankments, train tracks and ballast, lifted work platforms, etc.Visit alternate sites quickly and provide updates to MTA personnel immediately in urgent circumstances.Ensure work is performed in a safe, productive manner.Document work performed, prepare daily inspectors report Manual for Uniform Record Keeping Format.Notify appropriate MTA personnel of any events or problems requiring immediate attention.Ensure work is executed in accordance with LIRR procedures and guidelines for design and constructionComply with Safety and Quality Plan requirements within the third-party contract.Utilize the electronic filing system, Project Management Information System, per LIRR policy.Attend an MTA Roadway Worker Protection training class which will be provided by the MTA and maintain certification during the duration of the Task Order.Coordinate LIRR flag protection for third-party contractor.Assist with planning and coordinating track outages and foul time as required for construction activities.Read and interpret contract specifications and construction plans including Containment and Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (“MPT”) Drawings.Additional duties as assigned by Management.Required Skills and Experience:A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in Bridge Painting, Construction and Inspection. Experience in railroad operations, preferred.Valid Association for Material Protection and Performance (“AMPP”) Coatings Inspector (CIP Level I Certification) or Bridge Coatings Inspector Level I (BCI I Certification).
