Overview
Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Note: This position requires employees to be on-site five days a week in the Charlotte, NC office, with frequent statewide travel for inspections.
Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have at least 3 years of bridge inspection experience and completion of the FHWA-NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.

Job Description
- Perform topside and underwater inspections of bridges and related structures
- Document conditions with detailed reports, photos, and videos in compliance with FHWA & NBIS standards
- Identify deficiencies, hazards, and recommend corrective measures
- Plan, coordinate, and lead inspection teams statewide across NC and SC
- Operate and maintain diving and safety equipment as needed
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADCI, and state safety standards
- Support emergency response efforts for damaged infrastructure following accidents or natural disasters
- Collaborate with engineers to interpret inspection results and prepare maintenance/rehabilitation recommendations
- Assist with office-based reporting, drafting (AutoCAD/MicroStation), and structural analysis tools for load rating or repair design
Qualifications
- FHWA-NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of bridge inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of FHWA & NBIS bridge inspection standards
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD/MicroStation a plus
- CPR/First Aid/AED certified (or willing to obtain)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. work authorization (sponsorship not available)
Preferred
- FHWA/NHI 130091 Underwater Bridge Inspection certification
- Scuba or Commercial Dive certifications
- Familiarity with NCDOT WIGINS or SCDOT BrM inspection software
- Interest in pursuing EI or PE licensure
