Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Inspector to help keep the state's bridges safe. You will supervise inspection teams, review structural plans, and guide decisions using federal and state standards.

The role combines field work with documentation and coordination to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality inspection records. Telework may be available part-time, with in-office duties at the Allentown headquarters or other PA locations.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor or four years in construction inspection with supervisory capacity.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and training accepted.
• High school graduation or equivalent; substitution options described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Direct inspection teams and review structural components to meet regulatory standards.
• Provide engineering guidance, interpret plans, and resolve inspection issues.
• Organize required courses, mentor inspection staff and support certification needs.
• Approve inspection forms, photos, sketches and reports for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate equipment, schedules, permits, and support services for inspections.
• Review consultant inspection reports to ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
