Job summary

BDI Bridge Diagnostics in Austin, TX is seeking a Bridge Inspector to perform NBIS-compliant inspections and evaluations. The role blends field work with office reporting, and offers mentorship from licensed PEs. Candidates should have a civil/structural background, travel up to 50%, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years bridge inspection experience
• Complete FHWA NBIS/SNBI training or FHWA-equivalent
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Willingness to travel up to 50%
• Valid driver’s license with clean record
• ABET-accredited civil/structural engineering degree (for candidates with engineering background)

Responsibilities

• Perform NBIS inspections and document component ratings.
• Prepare inspection reports and update owner reporting systems.
• Conduct field work from ground, ladders, or rope access.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients on schedules and deliverables.
• Develop load rating and structural analysis as needed.
• Prepare technical memoranda and load rating reports.
