Job summary

Kokosing, a leading US general contractor, seeks an Estimator (Bridge/Structural) to support transportation projects in Maryland and Virginia from Annapolis Junction, MD or Richmond, VA offices.

Responsibilities include detailed takeoffs, bid preparation, subcontractor reviews, and cost optimization, with collaboration across teams to deliver accurate estimates and competitive bids. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and substantial estimating experience in heavy civil projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management required or preferred.
• 5 years related estimating experience; heavy civil preferred.
• Experience estimating on bridge/highway/utility projects (MD/VA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review proposals, specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to determine scope and estimate requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop full cost estimates for assigned items.
• Review and compare estimated costs to historical data; analyze means and methods for least-cost solutions.
• Coordinate with estimators and operations managers to ensure complete and responsive estimates.
• Collaborate with clients, design partners, vendors, and stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions.
