Job summary

Parsons invites applications for a Summer 2027 Bridge Internship in Baltimore, offering hands-on exposure to infrastructure design and mentorship within a world-class team. You will expand engineering knowledge, work on multiple bridge projects, and contribute to technical analyses, specifications, and documentation.

You should be pursuing Civil or Structural Engineering with strong communication skills and CAD proficiency; EIT is a plus, internship experience desirable, and MS Office mastery

Qualifications

• Engineering coursework related to transportation or structural design is required.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• Ability to work on multiple bridge/roadway projects concurrently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; CAD software knowledge preferred (MicroStation preferred).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to solving complex bridge engineering problems with innovative methods.
• Ensure designs comply with federal, state and local requirements and industry practices.
• Prepare specifications, data sheets, estimates, quantity calculations, and technical reports.
• Review supplier drawings and perform technical bid analyses.
• Create and issue construction documents and data sheets.
• Support project or team as a design engineer on various scales.

Job Description:

Parsons is now accepting applications for our Summer 2027 Bridge Internship program supporting our Baltimore team! In this program, you will expand your engineering technical skills and knowledge with direct mentorship and collaboration within a world-class team of Infrastructure design experts!

What You'll Be Doing:

• Determining creative and innovative methods and solutions for complex bridge engineering problems and select the most efficient and economical manner to achieve objectives
• Assuring that the designs are in accordance with approved Federal, State and local agency requirements as well as following accepted industry practices and procedures
• Providing specifications, estimations, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses
• Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and performing technical bid analyses
• Preparing and issuing specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents
• May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a design engineer for intermediate to large scale projects

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Prior transportation or structural engineering coursework
• Bachelors and/or Masters degrees in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field
• Interest and ability to work on multiple bridge or roadway projects at once
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High knowledge level of MS Office tools, CAD proficiency (Microstation preferred), and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of industry standards and applicable engineering software
