Job Description
KPFF’s Washington Division, located in Downtown Seattle, is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join the Bridge/Heavy-Civil group. The team specializes in various bridge and heavy-civil design fields, including highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, walls, culverts/fish-passage, bridge inspection, ferry terminals, and piers/wharves. We emphasize a collaborative approach, working with clients such as local agencies, transportation departments, architects, and contractors. Responsibilities

  1. Perform project management tasks, including monitoring budgets and schedules, client interactions, and leading junior engineers.
  2. Lead technical and project discussions with the design team.
  3. Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
  4. Ensure quality control and assurance of project deliverables.
  5. Perform structural design, analysis, and create design sketches; instruct draftspersons on design drawings.
  6. Conduct inspections and fieldwork.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 7-12 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License
  • Experience with reinforced concrete and structural steel design and construction
  • Proficiency with CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG Super or similar software
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, client relations, and leading junior engineers
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to grow as a structural engineer
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers
  • Passionate about client service
  • Strong technical and organizational skills

Additional Information

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily office-based with prolonged sitting
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs
  • Field visits involving walking, standing, and navigating terrain
  • Travel to project sites or meetings, including driving or flying

Compensation: The salary range is $115,000 - $150,000 annually, based on experience, education, and skills. Performance bonuses are also available.
