Job summary

Lochmueller Group in Northern Indiana seeks a Structural Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead DOT and local agency bridge design efforts. You will apply advanced engineering knowledge while managing scopes, budgets, and schedules with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis preferred.
• PE license required or in progress, with bridge design experience.
• 7–10 years of structural engineering experience, bridge design focus.
• Experience with project management and accounting software is beneficial.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform as project engineer and/or project manager on DOT and local bridge projects.
• Lead preparation of complete design and construction documents for bridges.
• Plan and coordinate engineering work, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Provide bridge inspection services and technical advisory support.
• Assist with proposals and funding applications, and support other projects as needed.

We are looking for a talented Structural Project Engineer / Project Manager to join our Structural Engineering team in Northern Indiana. The ideal candidate will have experience working on local agency and/or DOT bridge design projects, along with a strong technical background in structural engineering. Experience managing projects and tasks is preferred, although candidates interested in developing their project management capabilities while continuing to grow their technical expertise are also encouraged to apply. In this position, the candidate will:

• Perform as a project engineer and/or project manager on a variety of DOT and local agency projects related to bridge design
• Apply advanced, specialized knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of bridge design
• Work on a major project or several major projects of moderate scope with complex features
• Leading the preparation of complete design and construction documents for bridge projects
• Plan and coordinate aspects of the engineering work
• Provide bridge inspection services
• Assist management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor
• Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
• Assist with preparation of proposals and funding applications
• As opportunities present themselves, this role may also be involved in other various responsibilities and projects.

Qualifications for this role:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Structural emphasis is helpful
• Professional Engineer (PE)
• 7-10 years of Structural Engineering experience with an emphasis on bridge design projects
• Experience with project management and accounting software is beneficial
• Exceptional organization skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
