Job summary

GRAEF in Milwaukee is seeking an entry-level Bridge Engineer to join the growing Bridge team at our downtown corporate headquarters. You will contribute to designing and inspecting transportation structures under supervision.

The role offers challenging projects, mentorship, and a hybrid schedule, with opportunities to develop expertise in Civil 3D and LEAP software while working on high-profile projects in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or 1 year bridge experience.
• Internship in structural bridge design/inspection, or transportation is preferred.
• WisDOT or IDOT standards knowledge is a plus.
• Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX and Leap Bridge Steel knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to develop details, drawings and plan sheets in Civil 3D is a plus.
• EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designing and preparing plans and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls and box culverts under the supervision of the lead structural engineer, per DOT requirements.
• Assemble design documentation, reports, and quantity calculations for checking, and participate in checking the work of others.
• Preform structural inspection of bridges and highway structures.
• Perform work as part of a team, in accordance with project budget and schedule under moderate supervision.

We are considering candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis in course work.
• A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a minimum of 1 year of relatable bridge experience.
• Internship experience in structural bridge design/inspection, or transportation is preferred. Additional experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of WisDOT or IDOT standards considered a plus.
• Working knowledge of Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX and Leap Bridge Steel preferred.
• Ability to develop details, drawings and plan sheets in Civil 3D is a plus.
• EIT Certification preferred.
