Job summary

GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer/Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join the Transportation group in the New York – New Jersey Region. This hybrid role is based out of NY/NJ offices and focuses on transforming transportation infrastructure with resilient, multimodal design solutions.

You will conduct safety inspections of bridges and tunnels, lead inspection teams, coordinate with agencies, and ensure safe, reliable travel for communities. Travel may be required to support national practice needs.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in civil/structural engineering.
NBIS qualification or eligibility as bridge inspection team leader.
Experience leading bridge inspection teams and reporting.
Proficient in MS Office and reporting software.

Responsibilities

Conduct safety inspections of in-service bridges and tunnels and prepare written reports on structural conditions.
Lead in-depth inspections using non-destructive testing methods, mechanized access equipment, and/or climbing gear.
Conduct post-incident bridge inspections to assess damage and recommend actions.
Coordinate inspection schedules with owners and agencies on logistics.
Lead and train team members; provide staffing input to supervisor.
Travel to support national practice needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
