Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Bridge Engineer II to join our hybrid team, centrally located to one of our offices, supporting major transportation projects nationwide.

You will independently develop bridge design tasks, calculations, and drawings, modeling structures with MDX/LARSA/OpenRoads, and performing Load Ratings. PE license and 5+ years' experience are required; affiliation with Parsons offers growth and collaboration across multiple high-profile corridors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Proficiency in CAD (MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer a plus) and MDX/RC-PIER/LARSA.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop standard bridge design tasks, calculations, and drawings.
  • Develop calculations for concrete, prestressed concrete, steel components and foundations.
  • Model bridge structures using MDX, LEAP/OpenBridge tools and related software.
  • Create 3D finite element models with OpenBridge Modeler/Designer, LARSA, LEAP.
  • Perform Load Rating Calculations using AASHTOWare or CSiBridge.
  • Lead/check development of detailed drawings using Microstation.
  • Provide guidance to CAD Drafters and engineers on projects.
  • Collaborate with Geotechnical, roadway, environmental, and drainage teams.

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Bridge Engineer II to join our team full-time to support one of the many large transformative transportation projects that we have either won, are currently pursuing, or will pursue across the nation.

Some of the larger projects are located in the states of:

  • Tennessee
  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Indiana

In this role, you will help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion, and in turn assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors.

This position is hybrid, and the selected candidate must be centrally located to one of our Parsons offices to support regular in office collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Independently develop standard bridge design tasks, calculation packages, and detailed engineering drawings under minimal supervision, including but not limited to the following:
  • Develop detailed calculations for concrete, prestressed concrete and steel bridge components and retaining walls, including drilled shaft, pile and spread footing foundations
  • Perform modeling of bridge structures using structural design/analysis programs like MDX, LEAP Bridge Concrete (CONSPAN & RC-PIER), OpenBridge Designer, LARSA, LPILE & GROUP
  • Develop comprehensive 3D finite element models using programs like OpenBridge Modeler & Designer, LARSA, or LEAP
  • Perform complex Load Rating Calculations using AASHTOWare or CSiBridge
  • Lead/check and perform the development of detailed engineering drawings using Microstation, including rebar calculations and layout
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project
  • Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines including Geotechnical, roadway, environmental, and drainage teams.
  • Provide support for other engineering activities as required.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD (Microstation Open Roads Designer a plus) and other PC software packages (e.g. MDX, RC-PIER, LARSA) typically associated with engineering is required

Salary Range: $74,800.00 - $130,900.00
