Garver's Transportation Design Center, an integrated team with proficiency and focus in delivering bridge and structural projects, is seeking aBridge Engineerfor ourLawrenceville, GA or Atlanta, GAoffice.This position will join our in-house engineers, designers, and technicians to provide technical expertise in all areas required to successfully deliver sound solutions and quality design.

ThisBridge Engineerwill perform a wide range of design tasks from basic to complex as well as assist on other tasks such as design of bridge components and other transportation related structures, detailing for plan production, quantity calculation, report preparation, and site inspection.

Other responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• Design and load rating of simplespan prestressed bridges


• Design and load rating of simpleand/orcontinuous span steel bridges


• Design of retaining wall and misc. transportation structures


• Bridge repair/rehabilitation design


• Mentoring and training younger engineers on bridge and other structural design.

As experience is acquired, responsibilities will lead into increased discipline lead or project management opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET program


• 5 - 10 years of experience


• Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE)


• Strong communication skills


• Strong working knowledge of MS Office


• Experience in planning and design for bridges


• Design and detailing experience with prestressed concrete and reinforced concrete


• Experience with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads/OpenBridge modeler


• Experience with Structural analysis and design software, such as MathCAD and Bentley OpenBridge Designer


• Familiarity with Georgia DOT standards and manuals


• Familiarity with the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

Preferred Skills

• Master's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited programwith structural emphasis


• Design and detailing experience with structural steel and structural timber


• Load rating of prestressed and steel bridges
