Bridge Engineer (2-5 years)

Garver's Transportation Design Center, an integrated team focused on delivering bridge and structural projects, is seeking a Bridge Engineer for our Lawrenceville, GA or Atlanta, GA office. This role involves working with engineers, designers, and technicians to provide technical expertise for successful project delivery.

The Bridge Engineer will perform a range of design tasks, from basic to complex, including designing bridge components, detailing for plan production, calculating quantities, preparing reports, and conducting site inspections.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and load rating of simple span prestressed concrete bridges
• Design and load rating of simple and/or continuous span steel bridges
• Design of retaining walls and other transportation structures
• Bridge repair and rehabilitation design

As experience grows, opportunities for discipline lead or project management may arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• 2-5 years of experience
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Design and detailing experience with prestressed and reinforced concrete
• Experience with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads/OpenBridge Modeler
• Experience with structural analysis and design software like MathCAD and Bentley OpenBridge Designer

Preferred Skills

• Master's degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration (preferred)
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
• Knowledge of Georgia DOT standards and manuals
• Experience in bridge planning and design
