Job summary

Job description

HDR is hiring a Bridge Engineer to work in our South Florida office. The role involves daily collaboration with project officials and engineers on roadway, drainage, and structural projects across the region.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
• Design bridge systems including steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental and cable box culverts, and interchange designs for highway and railway projects.
• Select standard bridge engineering procedures, develop structural details using specialized software, and perform structural load calculations; assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Review, assign, and check designs, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bridge design.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Previous bridge design experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized in the location of the position (PE or equivalent).
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and bridge design software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer/Modeler, Autodesk InfraWorks, and Civil3d.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, and Prestress Concrete Design.
• Experience managing junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
