ATANE is seeking a Junior Bridge Engineer for our Bridge Inspection Group in Edison, NJ. Under supervision, you will perform field inspections on highway and railroad bridges, sign structures, and high masts to detect deficiencies and safety hazards while ensuring conformance to safety regulations and bridge specs.
Responsibilities include reviewing reports, updating CAD drawings, and creating new inspection reports per owners' standards.

ATANE is seeking structural engineer in the role of Junior Bridge Engineerfor our Bridge Inspection Group based out of Edison, NJ office. Under the supervision of an experienced Team Leader, the JUNIOR BRIDGE ENGINEER will: perform field inspection on highway & railroad bridges, sign structures, and high masts to detect any structural deficiencies and/or safety hazards by ensuring that structures conform to safety regulations, and bridge engineering specifications. The scope of work also includes reviewing previous reports, updating CADD drawings, and creating new inspection reports in accordance with the respective bridge owner’s standard and requirement.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from ABET accredited program or higher.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in bridge inspection, design, construction, or other bridge related work is desirable.
Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights and in confined spaces, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
Be proficient with general use of laptop computers including management of text, digital images, and data entry.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Experience with bridge management systems such as NJTA’s AssetWise and NJDOT’s ComBIS is a plus.
Experience with FHWA Element Level inventories and inspections is a plus.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license with clean motor vehicle report (MVR).

Being an Engineer-In-Training (EIT), the number and type of NHI training certifications held, the highest education degree obtained, and number of years served as full-time Junior Bridge Engineer are critical factors when determining the salary rate.
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, within a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment, and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
