HDR, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Engineer to lead structural projects including highway and railway bridges, culverts and interchanges. You will manage scopes, budgets, and schedules, perform advanced planning analyses, and design bridge components using specialized software.
The role requires strong leadership, coordination with subconsultants, and mentoring of junior staff. HDR emphasizes quality and client communication on complex assignments in the western US.
HDR's Bridge Engineer will: serve as a project manager, technical leader, or a task leader for structural engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; perform structural and feasibility analysis required for advanced planning and type selection studies and prepare related reports and technical memorandums; perform structural design and detailing of new bridge structural components (superstructure, substructure, and foundation components) for new, widening, and replacement structure projects as well as structural design and detail of related earth retaining structures; select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, perform structural load calculations, and assist with geometric layout; perform assessment and retrofit of existing bridges; produce and revise bridge material quantities, cost estimates, and specifications; produce and revise construction documentation; review shop drawings and field submittals; coordinate with subconsultants to keep projects on schedule and within budget and manage day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client; implement project quality plans; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
