HDR is seeking a Bridge EIT/Designer to join the SC Bridge and Structures Team in Columbia. You will work under a Professional Engineer to support bridge design and inspection, using software like MicroStation, LARSA, and other design tools.

Preferred candidates hold an EIT and a civil/structural engineering background, with local South Carolina candidates given preference for on-site work and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary office.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• EIT certification strongly preferred; without it, the title will be Designer and progression depends on obtaining it.
• Experience with AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar is expected.
• Familiarity with MIDAS, STAAD, LARSA, and related structural design tools is a plus.
• Master's degree in civil/structural engineering is preferred.
• Willingness to work with multiple disciplines within the office.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in bridge design efforts, develop design plans, perform load calculations and quantity takeoffs.
• Work in a team and independently to gain knowledge and experience in engineering.
• Support the bridge design group and other disciplines with structural detailing techniques.
• Perform bridge inspection and construction observation as needed.

HDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge EIT/Designer to join our SC Bridge and Structures Team in Columbia. HDR is a nationally recognized company that consistently ranks among top national recognized firms, including #1 in Top 20 Bridge firms by Engineering News-Record. We currently seeking a Bridge EIT/Designer with an interest and orientation toward highway bridges to join our team of Transportation Professionals. The Bridge EIT will perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design and inspection projects. Tasks may include performing standard bridge engineering/design procedures, developing structural details using specialized software (MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA or various concrete and steel design or analysis programs), bridge inspection, performing structural load rating calculations as well as assisting with geometric layout and bridge type studies. Some CADD plan production may also be required.

In the role of Bridge EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:

• Participate in bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs, review shop drawings and field submittals
• Work in a team environment as well as independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering
• Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs
• Perform other duties such as bridge inspection and construction observation as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• MS Office, Math CAD and MicroStation experience
• Familiarity with MIDAS, STAAD, or LARSA or other general structural analysis programs as well as OpenBridge Designer, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, Finite Element Analysis software, and other structural design programs a plus
• Master's degree in civil/structural engineering is preferred
• New graduate candidates considered; additional bridge/structural design experience will also be considered
• Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge inspection, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, construction services, environmental) within the office
• Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines considered a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects
• Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
• Preference given to local candidates
