Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Bridge EIT to contribute to designing and detailing bridges and related highway/rail infrastructure from its Indianapolis office. You will apply structural engineering methods, perform load calculations, and help develop quantities and layouts for projects.

The role emphasizes teamwork, proficiency with major structural software, and a commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture in delivering smart, safe, and sustainable mobility solutions across diverse projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD; experience with LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design.
  • Familiarity with structural software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, MIDAS Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
  • Knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Designer/OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk InfraWorks and Civil3D.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs.
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software.
  • Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software.
  • Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Bridge EIT, we'll count on you to:
