Position Overview

The primary focus of this role is to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques on projects involving bridge design, including steel plate girder, rolled beam, prestressed concrete, and post-tensioned components for highway projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized software, perform load calculations, and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Perform design calculations, estimates, specifications, and quantity take-offs; develop plans and details/layouts using CAD; write technical reports.
• Design and analyze new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation projects.
• Participate in bridge condition inspections and prepare inspection reports.
• Perform bridge load ratings.
• Calculate construction engineering aspects such as demolition, erection, temporary shoring, and falsework.
• Review shop drawings.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred.
• Ability to use Bentley MicroStation and/or OpenBridge Designer CAD software preferred.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Cooperative attitude and teamwork skills.
• Ability to analyze complex highway issues and prepare recommendations.
