Job summary

The candidate will manage engineering staff, ensure compliance with MDT policies and AASHTO guidelines, and work toward effective project delivery with potential hybrid work arrangements and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field with emphasis on structural design.
• Minimum of seven years in bridge/structural engineering; three years as a licensed professional engineer.
• Minimum of one year supervision or team lead experience.
• Professional Engineering license in Montana or comity at time of hire.
• Alternative qualifications acceptable if equivalent work/education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preconstruction activities for multiple bridge projects from assignment to contract award.
• Direct structural design, plan development, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate risk assessments and public involvement with stakeholders.
• Supervise engineers and staff across the district’s bridge programs.
• Ensure compliance with MDT policies, AASHTO guides and standards.
