Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking an Entry‑Level Bridge Engineer to join our transportation team.

You will assist in design, inspection, and rehabilitation of bridges and transportation structures, gaining hands‑on experience through field inspections and calculations. You will work with senior engineers on analysis, load ratings, and construction documentation while developing the skills to become a licensed PE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural/transportation focus (ABET‑accredited).
• EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Internship or co‑op experience in structural/bridge/transportation engineering is a plus.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and bridge design principles.
• Experience with several engineering software tools is a plus.
• Ability to work in office and field environments; willingness to field inspect.

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other transportation structures.
• Develop design plans, calculations, specifications, and construction documents under guidance of senior engineers.
• Support bridge inspections and condition assessments per state and federal requirements.
• Participate in field investigations, data collection and site visits.
• Assist with load ratings, rehabilitation studies, and bridge replacement projects.
• Use engineering software to prepare designs, models and reports.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors and regulatory agencies.
• Review shop drawings, submittals and inspection reports.
• Assist with permit applications and engineering studies.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with schedules and budgets.
