Bridge Design Engineer - ODOT Level I or II

Location: Mansfield, OH

Salary Range: $86K - $100K

Position Type: Permanent with Benefits

Opportunity for some hybrid work depending on candidates' experience and ability to work independently.

Company Overview

A privately held civil engineering & survey firm is seeking to hire an ODOT Level I or II Bridge Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will be ODOT prequalified (or equivalent) Level 1 bridge engineer, with Level 2 preferred. Flexibility to learn civil site and roadway design is also desired. (This job opportunity is not for ODOT).

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
• Ohio P.E. License or ability to obtain it quickly
• At least five years of experience in structural/bridge engineering, preferably in a consulting environment
• Excellent project design and management skills
• Strong client interaction and business development skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and familiarity with MicroStation (desired)
• Knowledge of ODOT standards
• Experience with AASHTO and Ohio DOT design manuals for hydraulics, roadways, and bridges
• Familiarity with Merlin-Dash, PSBeam, CivilGEO, HEC-RAS, and other hydraulic analysis/design programs is a plus
• Ability to review and check design calculations, estimates, and specifications
• Proven experience in bridge project design

Specific Structural Requirements

• Superstructure Types: Continuous reinforced concrete slabs, precast prestressed concrete box and I-beams, continuous composite rolled steel beams, and plate girders
• Pier Types: Cap and Column, T-type (Hammerhead), Wall-type
• Abutment Types: Stub, Integral, Semi-Integral, Wall-type, Retaining Wall
• Foundation Types: Multiple-row piles, spread footing, drilled shaft
