BRIDGE CARPENTER FOREPERSON - SYRACUSE

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, understand the plans and specifications.
  • Cut, assemble and install rebar, anchor bolts and embeds.
  • Erect job made forms or install prefabricated forming systems and their components.
  • Place concrete into the form work and finish concrete surfaces to specifications.
  • Order materials necessary to perform the work.
  • Inspect work for compliance to plans and specifications.
  • Monitor and schedule crew productions and understand goals
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Lead by example in the areas of safety, work product and work ethic

Essential functions of the position:

  • Perform a variety of tasks that may include periodically having to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods of time, stretch, walk, climb and bend under potentially adverse field conditionsandbe able to perform visual tasks such as backup spotting and hear and react to back up alarms, per safety protocol

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to set up and/or build forms
  • Communicate with owners, DOT, and Inspectors
  • Oversee compliance with all safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Lead by example in the areas of safety, work product and work ethic
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in bridge or general heavy highway construction
  • A minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to report to work on time
  • Must have proficient knowledge of NYSDOT standard specification as it relates to bridge and general civil construction
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen



Compensation:

Competitive wage commensurate with experience. Excellent benefit package including company paid health, dental and vision insurance with a company-funded retirement plan.

Salary Range - $36,000 - $112,500


Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, overtime when applicable, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
