City of Chicago, Department of Transportation, Division of In-House Construction, seeks a Journey-Level Bridge and Structural Iron Worker to install, repair, and maintain steel structures on city bridges, viaducts, and buildings. Starting salary is $64.19 per hour, with typical Monday–Friday 7:30 am–3:30 pm duties.

This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BRIDGE, STRUCTURAL AND REINFORCING IRONWORKER- LOCAL 1 (BARGAINING UNIT 46). Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under supervision, performs journey-level bridge and structural ironwork in the installation, repair, and maintenance of structural elements and framework on City bridges, viaducts, buildings, and other steel structures, and performs related duties as required

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
This position requires candidates to pass a job knowledge exam. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been analyzed and compiled. Bidders who receive a passing score on the test will be hired in seniority order. External applicants who receive a passing score will be hired in lottery/random order.
