Job Summary
Provide security as outlined in post orders, establish relationships with customers, law enforcement, and fire departments. Maintain constant awareness of surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area. Security Officers must project a professional image and deliver excellent customer service.

Basic Functions

• Control of entrances and movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
• Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
• Escort of materials and personnel.
• Inspection of security and fire exposures.
• Perform special assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

Duties may vary based on department size, structure, location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations are available for ADA requirements. General duties include:

• Report to post on time, in full uniform.
• Greet customers, visitors, and employees professionally and politely.
• Stay updated on post order revisions and general information.
• Patrol or monitor fixed posts, report suspicious activity, and investigate incidents.
• Monitor cameras and equipment as per post orders.
• Know emergency policies and procedures to handle alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
• Complete reports such as Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, and Incident Reports.
• Recommend safety and loss prevention improvements.
• Understand and operate life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and other equipment.
• Ensure the operation of elevators and access doors is safe and continuous.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel for equipment upkeep.
• Follow training and compliance guidelines from AFS and regulatory agencies.
• Communicate daily with Security Supervisor regarding issues and updates.
