Required
  • Undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Management, Geography, or Geographic Information Systems, or closely related field.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and be technically current in geospatial techniques and platforms.
  • An enthusiastic team player who is willing to work in a multidisciplinary program.
  • Must have experience with relational database management, technical writing, and web front-end design and maintenance.
  • Must be comfortable with programming, particularly with R, PostgreSQL, and Shiny.
  • Candidate should be able to collect, prepare, digitize and code spatial data.
  • Must be prepared to learn new skills and adopt new approaches as field develops.
Preferred
  • Ability to create, maintain and update GJS databases using PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
  • Experience with programming API -based routines preferred, as well as experience with server-based data management.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze and implement GJS information needs and/or assist technical professionals in analysis and assessment of a variety of disciplines.
  • Ability to generate reports and produce graphics for use internally and for constituents.
Primary Responsibilities

Candidate will be responsible for developing dashboards for data entry, data sharing, and spatially-explicit decision support tools fo1 land management for the Institute.

This coordination effort will involve working with a team of research scientists, faculty, and staff for the various programs at BRI.

Security Sensitive: This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

Other Information

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
