Job summary

Alvarado Street Brewery is seeking an Assistant Manager to learn restaurant management and lead a team at the Monterey brewpub. You will champion ethics, build relationships with locals, and ensure guests receive excellent service while supporting GM standards and processes.

The role requires energy, a love of beer, and a proactive approach to daily operations, including scheduling, training, and maintaining budgets and inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Previous supervisory experience, preferably within a restaurant.
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Fair, consistent, impartial, and ethical leader
• Intermediate accounting and arithmetic skills.
• Strong leadership skills with a desire to grow your career with ASB.
• Excellent guest service and conflict resolution abilities
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to respond quickly and problem solve under pressure

Responsibilities

• Assist with payroll processing as needed.
• Assist with scheduling employees, posting, and communicating changes to schedules.
• Enter tips into Toast.
• Balance bank deposits and the safe.
• Adjust time clocks as needed.
• Enter new employee information into the POS system.
• Assist with staff orientation, training, and quizzing.
• Organize employee folders / HR related tasks.
• Process incoming mail and identify invoices.
• Code liquor and wine invoices into the system.
• Manage monthly inventory and ensure accuracy.
• Respond to emails or phone messages promptly.
• Be on the floor during lunch and dinner to assist staff.
• Provide conflict resolution as needed.
• Coach, counsel, and discipline staff when required.
• Ensure FOH staff complete side work before clock-out.
• Communicate staffing needs to HR and management.
• Monitor budgets and labor costs; align with budgets.
• Send brief shift pass-on emails to management.
• Coordinate with management and other locations as required.
• Other tasks as assigned.
• Comply with health and safety policies.
