Job summary

Octopi Brewing in Madison, Wisconsin, seeks a Brewhouse Brewer (Hot Side) to join our team. You’ll oversee the first brewing steps from raw ingredients to finished wort, with ownership of yeast propagation and routine quality checks.

This full-time role offers room to grow through our Brewer Career Matrix. You’ll operate brewhouse piping and equipment, perform CIP and logs each shift, and adapt to multiple shifts to keep production on spec and on time.

Qualifications

• Must-have: comfortable standing for extended periods and ability to lift 55 lbs / move 165 lbs as needed.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
• Basic troubleshooting skills in a brewing or manufacturing setting.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and prioritize shifting tasks.

• Learn, understand, and operate all brewhouse piping and equipment.
• Execute efficient brewing operations from raw material intake to finished wort.
• Own yeast propagation from start to finish.

Founded in 2014 as a Wisconsin contract brewery, Octopi Brewing has spent over a decade brewing and packaging beer, seltzers, RTDs, and sodas for clients nationwide. In 2024, Asahi — brewers of Asahi Super Dry — acquired Octopi, making us the U.S. production home of Super Dry. THE OPPORTUNITY

Our brewhouse keeps the entire brewing process moving — turning raw ingredients into finished wort that feeds every batch downstream. We're looking for a Brewhouse Brewer to help keep that process precise, efficient, and in spec.

PAY BY SHIFT

Pay starts at $22.00/hr - $26.00/hr based on experience, with growth up to $34.00/hr through our tiered Brewer Career Matrix — whether you build that experience here or bring it with you, already brewed. Shifts outside of 1st shift include an additional shift differential on top of that base — never a lower starting rate, just added pay for the shift.

• 1st Shift — $22.00/hr (minimal base rate)
• 2nd Shift — $22.00/hr base + $3.00/hr shift differential = $25.00/hr (minimal total rate)
• 3rd Shift — $22.00/hr base + $4.00/hr shift differential = $26.00/hr (minimal total rate)
• Weekend Day — $22.00/hr base + $5.75/hr shift differential = $27.75/hr (minimal total rate)
• Weekend Night — $22.00/hr base + $7.75/hr shift differential = $29.75/hr (minimal total rate)
