Job summary

Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard, NC is seeking a dedicated Brewer Lead to oversee wort production and supervise Brewer Operators and Technicians. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Brewer Manager and focuses on process improvements and team leadership in a brewery setting.

The position requires 2-3 years of production brewery experience, high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work weekends and overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality and safety standards for wort production.
• Master Brewer Operator tasks (1, 2) and Technician tasks.
• Lead teams and support Brewer/Operations managers on initiatives.
• Audit raw materials and ensure accuracy of Brewsheets, BOMs, and Brand Specs.
• Lead a team of Brewer Operations and Technicians.
• Engage in improvement projects coordinated by Brewer Manager.
• Communicate effectively via email, phone, text or in person.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain all quality and safety standards set for wort production at Monster Brewing facilities.
• Mastery of all Brewer Operator 1, Operator 2, and Technician 1 tasks.
• Actively support Brewer Manager and/or Operations manager in team management tasks and initiatives.
• Audit raw materials and ensure accuracy of Brewsheets, Bills of Materials, Brand Specs, etc.
• Actively leads a team(s) of Brewer Operations and Technicians.
• Engage in improvement projects coordinated by Brewer Manager.
• Communicates effectively and timely using either email, phone, text or verbal tools.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support training and management of all brewhouse personnel, production scheduling and raw materials ordering.
• Perform facility-specific duties as required or assigned.
• Support other departments when situations warrant and make connections between processes.

Physical & Mental Requirements

Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 10-75 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls. May be required to work weekend and overnight shifts.
