Perdue Farms Inc. is seeking a Farm Technician in Breeding to support breeding herd performance and daily livestock care at the Breeding facility.

You will ensure proper feed, water, ventilation, and bedding, while following NR protocols and supporting farrowing activities to meet weekly pigs shipping goals. The role offers a base rate of $18.00 per hour with potential pay premiums, shift differentials, overtime, and an annual bonus based on performance.

Summary

Make a meaningful impact on herd performance and farm success as a Farm Technician in Breeding. In this role, you will help maximize breeding herd productivity through quality matings and achievement of breeding targets, while also supporting farrowing activities to meet weekly shipping goals for full value pigs. You will play a vital role in daily animal care by ensuring all livestock receive proper feed, water, ventilation, and bedding, and that all NR protocols and guidelines are followed without exception. By supporting a wide range of daily farm operations, you will help keep the farm running efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and performance.

This position has a base rate of $18.00 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Schedule

Apr/Oct – 5am, Nov/Dec – 6:30am, Dec/Mar – 7am

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure proper procedures are followed for Day-One pig, fostering.
• Processing of piglets in accordance with company procedures.
• Proper treatment/care of sows in farrowing.
• Maintain cleaning/bedding of farrowing pens; and clean-out and disinfecting farrowing room after weaning.
• Keep, communicate, and report accurate records daily.
• Notify and discuss openly with management any problems, concerns or questions.
• Conserve farm resources such as supplies, equipment, and time.
• Promote cooperation within the unit and contributes to adequate staffing.
• Communicate openly and freely with others.
• Normal working hours are 45-50 hours per week, at times more to get the job done. Rotations are required for weekends and holidays.
• Any other duties as assigned, requested, or directed by management/supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with and caring for livestock.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to lead by example, and work with a team of 2-5 people.
• Ability to solve problems, be a critical thinker, goal oriented, and a team player.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Must be able to stand, walk, and work outside up to 10 hours a day.
• Will be subject to ambient air temperatures throughout the working day and be exposed to sun, rain, wind, mud, snow, etc.
• Will be exposed to dust, animal dander, odor, and noise.
• Ability to properly and safely handle breeding stock weighing up to 700 pounds.
• Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, twisting, and kneeling.
• Will be around and may be asked to operate four wheelers, skid steers, tractors, or other farm machinery.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
