Job summary

Perdue Farms is seeking a Breeding Tech in Monett, Missouri to support the breeding herd operations on our live production farm. You will assist with matings, farrowing, daily animal care, and adherence to all NR protocols while helping the team reach weekly targets.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, and possess a valid driver’s license. This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced farm

Responsibilities

• Assist in maximizing breeding herd productivity through quality matings and meeting targets.
• Assist in all aspects of farrowing to help meet weekly shipping targets.
• Ensure all animals receive proper feed, water, ventilation, and bedding daily, following NR protocols.
• Assist with processing and vaccination of piglets per company procedures.
• Maintain accurate daily records and ensure equipment is in good working order.

Summary

• Assist in maximizing the productivity of the breeding herd by making quality mattings and meeting breeding targets.


• Assist in all aspects of farrowing to help meet weekly shipping targets of full value pigs


• Ensuring that ALL animals across the farm have received proper feed, water, ventilation, and bedding on a daily basis, and 100% of all NR protocol and guidelines are followed.


• Assisting with all other aspects of the farm to ensure farm goals are met and tasks are completed on a daily basis.


• Properly carry out the heat checking and breeding protocol


• Assist in animal movement and placement to ensure proper animal handling goals are met and sows/gilts are penned appropriately.


• Make seasonally appropriate adjustments to ventilation, bedding, and sprinklers.


• Maintenance and cleaning of waters, feeders, and pens


• Complete proper procedures for Day-One pig care, fostering.


• Assist with processing and vaccination of piglets in accordance with company procedures.


• Assist with the treatment/care of sows across the farms.


• Assist in cleaning/bedding of farrowing and gestation pens; and clean-out and disinfecting farrowing room after weaning.


• Keep, communicate, and report accurate records on a daily basis.


• Maintain correct temperature/ventilation settings, and that all associated equipment is in full working order.


• As requested, ensure maintenance of manure scraper chains, feeder lines, feeders, waterers, gates, curtains


• Any other duties as assigned, requested, or directed by management/supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Minimum of High School diploma


• Must possess a valid driver’s license.


• Ability to lift 50 lbs.


• Ability to problem solve, be a critical thinker, goal oriented, and a team player

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Exposure to and work in temperatures of<0 to >100 degrees Fahrenheit with ambient humidity, or dry exposure.


• Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, height, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depends upon the task being performed.


• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.


• Must wear and/or use protective and safety equipment required for the job.
