Job summary

Hoover Hatchery is seeking a Breeder Service Tech - IA to assist in poultry flock maintenance under the supervision of the Breed Operations Manager – IA. You will coordinate deliveries, collaborate with contract growers, and ensure compliance with set policies and schedules.

This role requires hands-on experience with poultry, good communication, and the ability to work independently or in a team. A valid driver’s license is essential, and some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Overview

Position Title: Breeder Service Tech - IA. Reports to: Breed Operations Manager - IA. Location: Rudd, IA. Status: Full-Time – Exempt.

Job Summary

The Breeder Service Tech - IA is responsible for assisting the Breed Operations Manager – IA in the maintenance of various types of poultry flocks in Iowa.

Essential Functions

• Works closely with the Breed Operations Manager - IA
• Works closely with contract growers, addressing needs and concerns in a timely fashion.
• Ensures that breeder chick deliveries are coordinated.
• Works with contract growers to ensure they are meeting required policies and standards.
• Effectively maintains farm visit schedules.
• Audits farms according to set audit schedule and maintains audit records.
• Uses production report information to identify potential performance issues in coordination with Breed Operations Manager - IA.
• Works with contract growers to optimize layability and hatchability performance.
• Develops, implements, and enforces improvement plans for contract grower farms.
• Troubleshoots production issues including hatchability, layability, disease control, and pest control.
• Assists with the implementation of flock vaccination and biological testing schedules.
• Collects and submits environmental and water samples.
• Coordinates starter barns and transportation for breeder stock.
• Participates in industry continuing education and events.
• Performs on call duties, as required, on weekends and evenings.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
