Job summary

Moore County's WIC Unit seeks a Breastfeeding Support Specialist to provide consultation and support to a caseload of prenatal and breastfeeding women and their families, promoting exclusive breastfeeding where possible.

Responsibilities include assessing mothers and infants, providing anticipatory guidance, documenting all contacts and services, and coordinating with the WIC program manager, nurse, nutritionist, or lactation consultant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have breastfed at least one baby.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding consultation and support to prenatal and breastfeeding women and their families.
• Assess breastfeeding mothers and infants based on established protocol.
• Refer identified concerns to the WIC program manager, nurse, nutritionist, or lactation consultant.
• Issue breastfeeding supplies to enrolled participants in conjunction with service delivery.
• Document and maintain records for daily logs of client contacts, education, and services.
• Participate in WIC clinic and community activities.
