The role is onsite and paid at $22.50 per hour, with responsibilities including tracking contacts, referrals, and outreach.

The ideal candidate has breastfed a baby, a high school diploma, and a passion for supporting new mothers. 16–20 hours per week availability and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding counseling and support to WIC participants through various communication channels, including telephone and hospital visits.
• Attend USDA breastfeeding peer counselor training and complete required coursework.
• Counsel pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women in assigned WIC clinic(s).
• Maintain accurate records of all contacts with participants.
• Refer mothers to appropriate WIC and community resources.
• Attend prenatal classes, breastfeeding support groups, and relevant conferences.
• Promote breastfeeding through special projects and outreach efforts.
