Job summary

Government Jobs is seeking a Para-Professional Breastfeeding Services candidate for a part-time role in Georgia. You will manage a caseload of WIC mothers, provide breastfeeding information and support, and assist with prenatal classes and support groups.

The position offers learning and growth opportunities, flexible core hours (Mon–Fri 8 am–5 pm), and an employee recognition program within a diverse workforce. Up to 29 hours weekly with an hourly wage of $18.00.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and one year of job-related experience in a social services-related position.
  • Must be a current or former WIC participant who has breastfed a minimum of six months.
  • Available to work up to 29 hours per week.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Essential duties include providing breastfeeding information and support to new mothers.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and maintains a caseload of WIC mothers.
  • 2-3 participants per hour worked.
  • Provides basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers.
  • Breastfeeding benefits and common barriers discussed.
  • Assists with WIC clinic prenatal, breastfeeding classes and support groups.

Job Responsibilities

Essential functions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Receives and maintains a caseload of WIC mothers
  • 2-3 participants per hour worked
  • Provides basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers

  • Assists with WIC clinic prenatal, breastfeeding classes and support groups
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience in a social services-related position.
  • Job Requirements: Must be a current or former WIC participant who has breastfed a minimum of six months Enthusiastic about breastfeeding and supporting moms Available to work up to 29 hours per week Reliable transportation Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
  • The ability to translate English to Spanish and Spanish to English orally and in writing is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience as a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.
  • Certificate of completion of Loving Support Breastfeeding Training as recognized by USDA.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Inventory Management may require lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Fast paced work environment: ability to prioritize and self-manage tasks as needed in office AND home setting.
  • Some travel involving home/hospital visits, trainings, meetings, and outreach.
Salary Information

$18.00 Hourly | up to 29 hours/week | Part-time (No Benefits)
