Job summary

The Breast Cancer Center of the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital invites applications for a fellowship-trained breast surgeon or surgical oncologist to join a busy program in New England.

The position offers an academic appointment at Brown, with opportunities to teach medical students and residents, and a schedule combining clinic, OR time, and time for research and teaching.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery with additional training in breast surgery or surgical oncology.
  • Demonstrate excellence in patient care and surgical skill.
  • Have a clear interest in teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Show potential for scholarly contributions in clinical or translational research.
  • Value collaboration in a collegial, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Join 4 other breast surgeons, 3 experienced APPs and 2 multidisciplinary care coordinators.
  • Schedule is roughly 2 clinic days, 2 days in the OR, half day in the multidisciplinary clinic and time for teaching and research.
  • The Center treats 700 breast cancer patients per year.
  • Opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team that includes surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, nurse navigators, psychiatrists, social workers, pathologists, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, nutritionists, and genetics experts.
  • Academic Appointment to Brown with opportunity to teach medical students and residents.
