A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Breast Specialty Doctor to support a 12-month maternity leave, with the possibility of the position becoming permanent. The candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in Breast Surgery. The role involves patient assessment, assisting in theatres, and collaboration with consultants. The Breast Surgery Team at UHMBT are looking to recruit a Breast Specialty Dr to support and cover 12 month maternity leave with the potential of the position becoming permanent at the end of the advertised fixed term contract. It is a mandatory requirement to be eligible for this role to have a minimum of 2 years experience in Breast Surgery. Applications will only be considered for those meeting this criteria.
Based at the Breast Screening unit RLI, on a 10 PA job plan you will be required to provide cover for service provision at both Westmorland General Hospital and Furness General Hospital with no on-call commitments. This includes cover for New patient one stop assessment clinics, follow up clinics alongside the consultant team and assisting in theatres.
The team consists of four oncoplastic Breast Consultants, one breast Specialist Dr and Three trainee level DRs. With one advanced clinical practitioner and 8 breast care nurses supporting the delivery of both Screening and Symptomatic Breast Cancer diagnosis and treatment for our patients.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
