Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a Data Scientist to lead data science research in the breast cancer program within the Hematology/Oncology section. You will manage projects and develop pipelines for genomic, pathology, and radiographic data, while supervising trainees.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5 years of related experience, strong Python, Torch and scikit-learn skills, and familiarity with large language models and imaging data.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2–5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Experience with Python, Torch and scikit-learn libraries is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with image data or unstructured text data and large language models.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data science research efforts within the breast cancer program.
  • Develop frameworks for housing multi-modal clinical data (genomic, pathology, radiographic).
  • Write and optimize data dictionaries and ML pipelines for data processing.
  • Collaborate to implement external computational tools and draft proposals.
  • Supervise trainees and prepare training materials.
