The position reports to the Assistant News Director and requires coordinating with anchors, reporters, producers, and digital editors to ensure accurate, engaging coverage across platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience listening to police scanners.
• Experience with digital platforms, especially social media.
• Working knowledge of FTP or willingness to learn how to FTP video.
• Familiar with local newsgathering technology and terminology.
• Maintain professional working relationships with newsmakers.
• Ability to gather information from multiple sources quickly and push to anchors, reporters, producers, and editors.
• Must remain calm and level-headed during breaking news situations.
• Willing to work weekends and nights.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Listen to multiple police scanners covering the market.
• Gather and organize press releases, emails, calls, and tips; decide compelling content for newscasts.
• Assist news management with content gathering and planning.
• Assist producers, digital editors, and reporters with story gathering.
• Keep track of crews in the field and communicate with them.
• Post content to digital platforms, including push alerts and social posts.
