Job summary

Hearst Television's WMUR in Manchester, NH seeks an Assignment Editor to lead coverage, identify enterprise stories, and coordinate news gathering across multiple platforms. You will oversee breaking news, maintain calm under pressure, and report to the News Director.

You will listen to police scanners, manage tips, and collaborate with management, producers, and digital editors to push content to on-air and digital channels.

Qualifications

Experience listening to police scanners.
Experience with digital platforms, especially social media.
Working knowledge of FTP or willingness to learn FTP video transfers.
Familiar with local newsgathering technology and terminology.

Responsibilities

Listen to multiple police scanners and determine compelling content for newscasts.
Gather and organize press releases, emails, phone calls, and viewer tips for potential stories.
Assist news management with content gathering and planning.
Assist producers, digital editors and reporters with story gathering.
Monitor field crews and coordinate communications.
Publish content to digital platforms including push alerts, Twitter and Facebook.
