JOB SUMMARY

The Breakfast Attendant supports a positive guest experience by preparing, setting up, maintaining, and breaking down the breakfast service in accordance with hotel and brand standards. This role ensures food quality, food safety, and sanitation; keeps the breakfast area clean, organized, and well stocked; and provides friendly, responsive service to guests during breakfast hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Open and prepare the breakfast service area at the start of the scheduled service time, ensuring readiness for early-morning guests.
  • Prepare and present hot and cold breakfast items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down the breakfast buffet to ensure food remains fresh, well-stocked, and attractively displayed throughout service.
  • Monitor food levels, rotate items, and replenish supplies to support consistent service and minimize waste.
  • Safely operate kitchen and service equipment used during breakfast preparation and service; report malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen, storage, and buffet area before, during, and after breakfast hours.
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, and service stations in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Follow food safety procedures including proper handwashing, glove use, allergen awareness, time/temperature controls, and labeling/dating and storage practices.
  • Complete required checklists and documentation (e.g., food temperatures, cleaning/sanitation logs) accurately and on time.
  • Provide friendly and attentive guest service by greeting guests and responding promptly to questions, requests, and dietary inquiries.
  • Support all aspects of breakfast service, including preparation, presentation, guest interaction, and cleanup, to deliver a positive guest experience.
  • Communicate food shortages, equipment concerns, or safety issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient breakfast operations.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Report maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly to management.
  • Follow all safety procedures and be able to recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and report defective, damaged, or missing PPE to management.
  • Maintain a clean, professional uniform and appearance in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Promote a hospitable, guest-focused service environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) months of food preparation, kitchen, or hospitality experience preferred; guest service experience strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and breakfast service standards.
  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and safe handling practices.
  • Ability to consistently arrive to work on time when scheduled.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to understand recipes, instructions, and guest requests.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
