Description

Proof of the Pudding (POP) is the food service provider for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. This complex is the official practice facility of the Hawks. POP provides meal services multiple times per day year-round to ensure players, staff, and coaches are fueled with a health-focused menu.

POP is seeking additional breakfast cooks to assist in daily food service preparations, clean up and service flips, and help the general manager in daily duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations.
  • Following prep lists created by Executive Chef.
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
  • Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
  • Distributing plates to wait staff to be served, cleaning plates for dishwashing, and preparing takeaway packages for customers.
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
  • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers.
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
  • Read thoroughly and understand the daily menus and recipes.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Ensuring proper cleaning and sanitizing of food contact surfaces such as/but not limited to dishes, small wares, equipment, and food prep surfaces.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrate professional customer service skills while communicating with guests.
  • Maintaining the highest level of service, safety, and food quality for each service.

Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as an interactive chef is required, experience in client facing roles is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of food preparation/food service.
  • Proven experience executing food displays, preparing buffets, plating dishes, and knowledge of buffet equipment.
  • ServSafe certified or is available to receive training.

  • Working knowledge of a variety of cooking equipment.
  • Strong Customer Service skills with the desire to go above and beyond a client’s needs.
  • The ability to work alone and as a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must have a firm understanding of all food safety practices including, but not limited to, TCS, TILT, temperature logs, and cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Must have knowledge of food preparation/food service witha strong understanding of the execution of BEOs, reading production sheets, and completing tasks.

Work Environment

This position will report to and work out of the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. This position will have prolonged periods of standing, utilizing typical kitchen equipment, and traverse across sometimes wet surfaces.

Uniform Requirements

Adherence to Company Uniform Requirements outlined in the Associate Handbook, uniform requirements outlined in your orientation guidelines.

Non-slip shoes are necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of remaining in a fixed spot, moving through a kitchen or event space, and traveling to different venues across greater Atlanta.
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
