Job Overview
Oversee the breakfast service for our guests and ensure a quality dining experience, including excellence in guest satisfaction with high food quality standards and service. Prepare food and beverages for the breakfast function. Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
Responsibilities
- Be dependable and prompt, arriving on time and ready to work in a clean uniform and a nametag.
- Prepare breakfast food and beverage items and set out all hot and cold food items following all food safety regulations.
- Replenish all food and beverage items during the meal period, keeping all items fully stocked until closing. Ensure all foods are kept at safe temperatures.
- Keep all tables bussed and cleaned throughout breakfast and happy hour. Ensure all tables are properly cleaned, and the dining area is vacuumed.
- Receive and unpack items as they arrive from food vendors. Date all items and pack them according to safety standards, practicing FIFO (First In, First Out).
- Greet each guest as they arrive for breakfast. Assist with service if required and replenish coffee as time permits.
- Build rapport with guests, solve problems when able, and report any complaints or issues immediately to management.
- Learn about the hotel’s guests through conversations—aim to learn at least three pieces of information about at least 10 guests per day.
- Pass on any sales leads obtained during discussions with guests to management.
- Create and maintain a pleasant presentation for breakfast.
- Maintain a clean breakfast area, store food properly, and remove all trash, taking it out to the dumpster as needed.
- Continuously seek cost-effective ways to improve breakfast appeal.
- Assist in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and employees.
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Qualifications
- Education/Formal Training: High school education or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar position for 3 months or longer.
- Knowledge/Skills: High school level mathematical aptitude, knowledge of ordering procedures, safe food handling, customer service skills, and proficiency in English (oral and written). Ability to read written communications and handle paperwork.
Physical Demands
- Lift trays, dish racks, and glass racks (20-40 lbs). Push carts and portable bars (50-100 lbs). Carry trays and dish racks (20-40 lbs).
- Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items, and carry trays.
- Bend, kneel, and lift to lower cabinets and trays.
- Mobility to maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests.
- Stand continuously during shifts; climb approximately 12 steps 20% of the time.
- No driving required.
- Read and process records and special requests with moderate comprehension and literacy.
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Be highly organized and attentive to details in noisy and crowded environments.
- Handle stressful situations tactfully and with understanding.
- The work is physically strenuous, involving prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying in indoor environments, including cold storage (-10°F).
