Barrett Petfood in Brainerd, MN seeks a Full Time Quality Technician to support our QA team by upholding strict quality control standards across ingredients, formulations, packaging and production. This onsite role offers collaborative work with a passionate team and opportunities to contribute to product safety and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Ensures and verifies that all plant departments and employees adhere to quality standards and guidelines.
• Takes samples, tests, records, and reports on physical, chemical, and biological properties of ingredients, formulations, packaging, and other materials.
• Monitors, teaches, and enforces plant sanitation policies, GMPs, HACCP, and allergen-control methods.
• Prepares, maintains, monitors, and tracks plant documentation.
• Monitors departmental efficiency, testing and approval times, yields, scrap loss, and other key indicators.
• Teaches and leads plant employees on sanitation issues.
• Prepares and maintains departmental forms and documents; ensures proper record-keeping across plant areas.

Shifts Available Mon - Fri

• 2ND SHIFT Mon -Fri 2PM - 1030PM (+$1.50 shift differential)
• 4TH SHIFT Fri-Sun 6AM-6PM (+$4/HR shift differential)

Day to day as a Quality Technician

• Ensures and verifies that all plant departments and employees are adhering to the quality standards and guidelines of the company.
• Takes samples, tests, records, and reports on basic physical, chemical, and biological properties of ingredients, formulations, packaging, and other associated material, leading to their acceptance, approval, or disposition.
• Actively monitors, teaches, and enforces plant sanitation policies, GMP's, HACCP, and methods for allergen control
• Prepares, maintains, monitors, and tracks plant documentation
• Monitor the departmental efficiency, testing and approval times, yields, scrap loss, and other key indicators
• Teaches, instructs, and leads plant employees in issues regarding sanitation
• Accurately prepares and maintains all departmental forms and documents. Monitors the completion of paperwork by other departments, emphasizing optimum record keeping within all plant areas.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and perform other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment.
• Climb and descend stairs and ladders safely and routinely, including accessing elevated work areas and equipment.
• Ability to safely operate or work from a scissor lift to access elevated equipment and production areas for inspection, verification, and environmental or sanitation sampling
• Maintain balance and stability while working on elevated platforms, stairs, ladders, and uneven or wet surfaces, as applicable.
• Work in varying environmental conditions, including areas that may be hot, cold, wet, humid, noisy, or subject to temperature fluctuations.
