Operators shall perform all functions associated with treating hardware that is required to be processed in a furnace as well as brazing components together to assemble fabricated metal parts. Tasks shall include but not be limited to, pulling job travelers, washing, blasting, and brazing parts, loading and unloading furnaces.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform in a safe and productive manner in compliance with company policies and procedures, adhering to all safety standards
- Adhere to Coating/Braze procedures as well as all quality standards
- Measure, weigh, mix, and combine materials based on specific operator instructions or engineering specifications
- Apply braze alloy paste/tape/foil to braze joints on production parts per standard operating procedures or blueprints
- Inspect coated parts, pre-braze & post-braze components to ensure quality requirements are met
- Understand and utilize controls and instruments to operate furnaces, heat treat equipment, auxiliary equipment, grit blasters, and resistance welders as required
- Extensive use of various software packages including MCPS, ORION, ATLAS, Microsoft Outlook, and more
- Maintain work stations in a clean and orderly manner
- Use and/or interpret information from work instructions, travelers, and other written or verbal instructions
- Recognize and diagnose problems when issues arise and take necessary actions to report equipment malfunctions to supervisor
- Communicate and work with other departments to provide continuous feedback for hardware quality
- Function effectively within a team environment over multiple shifts
- Maintain accurate records of daily production activities including preventive maintenance, work station audits, and furnace logs
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor or management
Requirements
- Ability to work in a team environment that promotes high morale, teamwork, pride, productivity, and excellent quality
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent - documentation required
- Must meet ITAR definition of US person(s) - documentation required
- Keyboarding skills sufficient to enter data into Microsoft Office and inspection software
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprint drawings and familiarity with basic GD&T
- Strong math background
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
- Responsive and cooperative with department personnel/associates
- Vision acuity 20/25 or better (corrected)
- Mechanical aptitude to operate hand tools including micrometers, calipers, grinders, sanders, etc.
- Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by management
- Maintain excellent attendance record in accordance with company policy
- Pre-employment testing required due to safety sensitivity of the role
Preferred Qualifications
Prior furnace, braze, or welding experience, and knowledge of aerospace quality standards are preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Employees are regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, communicate, and move throughout the facility. Work involves computer use, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a loud environment with PPE. Accommodations may be made for disabilities. Must work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
